Janet Yellen Holds Press Conf. After Federal Reserve Meeting On Interest Rates

Wednesday, Feb. 15 marks the second day of Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen’s two-day visit with Congress for her semi-annual testimony on monetary policy.

Yellen is slated to appear before before the House Financial Service panel at 10 a.m.

On Tuesday, she testified before the Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs. Senators asked her about President Donald Trump, pressing Yellen on the economic impact of tax reform, the possible repeal of the Affordable Care Act, immigration, and even climate change.

During her hearing, Yellen also said that the Federal Reserve needs to raise interest rates sooner rather than later, explaining that delaying rate increases is “unwise” and could result in a recession. After this comment, world stocks soared to record highs early Wednesday morning.
