The iPhone maker is reportedly testing out two versions of its upcoming iPhone 7 Plus design, with both one and two rear-facing cameras.

Apple Unveils New IPhones, IPad And Apple TV With Touch Remote

Apple’s next iPhone could come with two rear-facing cameras, according to an analyst.

The tech giant is reportedly testing two designs for an upcoming 5.5-inch “iPhone 7 Plus,” one with a single rear-facing camera, and one with a dual-camera design, according to a note from KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo obtained by MacRumors.

A dual-camera on the back could mean better resolution, faster speed, and incorporating 2x to 3x optical zoom. This model would take advantage of imaging algorithms and other technology Apple acquired when it purchased Israeli startup LinX Imaging in 2015.

Kuo also expects Apple (AAPL) to release both versions of the larger “Plus” iPhone, which will mean that the company’s next lineup will include four models total: the rumored 4-inch iPhone SE, the 4.7-inch iPhone 7, and the two versions of the 5.5-inch iPhone 7 Plus.

However, MacRumors notes that Apple has traditionally reserved major camera improvements for the “S” lines of its smartphone, so there is a possibility the company will hold off on these new camera designs.
